Welcome to Food & Nutrition Services. Our skilled and friendly staff is here to serve you. Join us for breakfast before the school day begins. Breakfast is served 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the school day. We offer healthy grains, lean proteins, fresh fruit, and nonfat milk. Breakfast is essential to ensure our students are ready to learn. We encourage parents to come in at lunch as often as they like. Come see the healthy versions of kid favorites we offer. All lunches include healthy grains, lean proteins, a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and choice of nonfat white or flavored milk.

We welcome parents to consider a job in the school cafeteria. We offer both part and full time positions. Professional development is offered throughout the year, as well as unique networking opportunities with other school food service professionals throughout the state. New System for Prepayments and Financial Assistance Applications for 2018-2019

Beginning this year, Madison will be utilizing a new service for families to prepay for their student’s cafeteria meals and to submit applications for financial assistance for school meals. The new service, Titan, will be replacing MySchoolBucks.

Families can begin adding their students in the Titan portal now.

If your student had a balance on their MySchoolBucks account at the end of last year, the same balance will be reflected in Titan.

Breakfast and lunch are available at all Madison schools. Qualifying students can eat breakfast and lunch for free or at a reduced rate. See the Financial Assistance section below for more information.

  • Every regular Wednesday & TCT day, Park Middle School will serve pizza as the only hot entree due to their shorter lunch schedule

Madison School District Food & Nutrition Services Food Allergy Policy

Parents or Guardians, if your student has a serious food allergy, please follow the steps below. Because food allergy tests can be retaken and the results of those tests may change, this information must be reviewed at the beginning of the school year and at any time that your student has changes concerning their food allergies.

Madison School District Food Allergy Protocol:

  1. At the beginning of the school year, new students can be registered on their PowerSchool account under Forms then under the Medical tab and parents or guardians can select “Allergies – food/milk” and then specify specific allergies in the comments. Continuing students will need to make sure that their food allergies are accurate before submission. If a food allergy needs to be addressed and it occurs after the start of the school year, please skip to Step #2.
  2. Please directly notify the health associate located at your student’s school via email (see school directory) and notify via email Lauren Kemmer the Executive Chef/Wellness Coordinator at
  3. Once the health associate and the Executive Chef are notified, a food allergy alert will be added to your student’s Titan meal account that alerts the cashier of a student food allergy when they purchase a meal with the school café.
  4. Please also contact your student’s teacher, before or after school program coordinators (i.e. Madison Adventure Club, if applicable), their bus driver (if applicable), and any other Madison School District employee who is involved in your student’s direct supervision so that they are all aware of your student’s food allergy and can respond accordingly.

Food Allergy Disclaimer:

Food allergies are becoming increasingly more common in children and are a potential life threatening medical problem.  But, your student can be safe at school and continue to enjoy school meals when the parents, student, school health associate, and school café staff all work together to provide a safe environment for each student. Education and communication are key to your student’s safety.  Madison School District Food & Nutrition Services makes every attempt to identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those students with food allergies. Training the employees at each school café on the severity of food allergies occurs at least once a year. It is important to communicate your student’s dietary needs to the appropriate staff by following the “Madison School District Food Allergy Protocol” stated above.

There is a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation or our school cafés may substitute an ingredient at any time, without notice. School café staff have access to identify food allergies at point of service for purchase but with the number of students served every day, it is essential for the student to take responsibility to avoid these foods. It is important your student reminds the cafeteria staff of their allergen when they come through the meal line so that we can ensure they pick a meal option which does not include that food allergen. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. Madison School District will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed or items one may come in contact with while eating at Madison School District.

Financial Assistance

Qualifying families can easily participate in the school lunch program for free or at a reduced rate.

Families with incomes at or below 130% of the poverty level are eligible for free meals. Families with incomes between 130% and 185% of the poverty level are eligible for reduced-price meals; these students can be charged no more than 40 cents.

Meal applications for the 2018-2019 school year can be submitted through the Titan portal.

Smart Snacks

USDA Smart Snacks in Schools & the Arizona Nutrition Standards

The Arizona Nutrition Standards have been revised to incorporate the new USDA Smart Snacks in Schools requirements. The revised standards took effect July 1, 2014. They apply to all foods sold or served on campus during the school day. The school day is defined as the period from midnight before, to 30 minutes after the end of the official school day.

The intent of the standards is to ensure consumption of healthful foods during the school day and create an environment that reinforces the development of healthy eating habits. There is a list of snacks that parents or staff can purchase through the cafeteria. Food & Nutrition Services has done the work for you. We have analyzed the nutrition facts and determined that the snack meets all of the new requirements. In addition, snacks meeting the standards will be available for purchase at breakfast and lunch.

Food fundraisers are not permitted during breakfast or lunch serving times. School or PTO fundraisers, classroom snacks, classroom/school wide celebrations must meet Smart Snack guidelines during the school day (midnight the day before to 30 minutes after release). Snacks for classroom incentives or classroom/school wide celebrations can be purchased from the cafeteria. Fundraisers that are not intended for consumption at school such as cookie dough are EXEMPT. Individual classroom birthday celebrations are EXEMPT. A Smart Snacks on-line calculator is available at If the school or PTO plans a fundraiser it is the responsibility of the school or PTO official to run the nutrition facts labels through the on-line calculator to determine compliance. It is also the responsibility of the school or PTO official to have the nutrition facts labels and the printout of the on-line calculator approval on hand during the sale for audit purposes.

Birthday Program

Madison now offers a “Birthday in a Box” program for your child. We make it simple for you to order a classroom celebration for your child and provide a range of options to meet your needs. To learn more or participate, simply download the Birthday Celebration Form (PDF/Word)

On-Campus Food Guidelines

The following guidelines are an effort to comply with Maricopa County Health Code and with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) federal guidelines, and the Arizona Nutrition Standards.

Evening Events
The Wellness Policy will not mandate any restrictions regarding food and beverages sold/served at evening events. These food and beverage items are available outside of the normal school day, and therefore are not addressed within the USDA guidelines or the AZNS.

Classroom Parties
As the Madison School District Wellness Policy honors the Arizona Nutrition Standard Guidelines, this policy has no restrictions regarding classroom parties. Healthier food choices are always encouraged to be available, provided they meet Maricopa County guidelines.

There are mandatory safety guidelines regarding food and beverages for classroom parties established by Maricopa County.

The County has strict regulations about food being prepared in residential kitchens and served at classroom parties. It is not allowed. All food brought onto campuses for classroom parties must originate from certified kitchens, commercial institutions or commercial food service stores.

The following guidelines will assist in this process:

  • All foods offered must originate from a Maricopa County Health Department approved kitchen or institution. Examples would be products prepared at a supermarket bakery, retail location or from a commercial restaurant. For example, cupcakes prepared at home are not an approved item for a classroom party.
  • All food offered is delivered at the proper temperature and non-wrapped food is served with a non-latex gloved hand or utensil. Example would be a pizza party from an approved vendor which is served by a gloved-hand or with a serving utensil.
  • All food offered is being consumed within a reasonable time and is maintained at proper temperature.
  • No contact is to be made by a non-gloved hand with any food items that are not pre-wrapped.
